Trikala City council has officially embraced the implementation of the youth council

In relation to the Youth Council initiative that the Municipality of Trikala will implement via NEUEYT project a very important event took place. On the 31 of May, 2022 during the City Councils meeting the establishment of the Municipal Youth Council was discussed by the authorities.

The Municipal Council of Trikala approved the establishment of the Municipal Youth Council along with a number of actions that will take place the following months. The president of the Municipal Council G. Panagiotou and the implementer of the effort, Mich. Lappas, referred to the need to support the new generation in participating in democratic procedures.

Among others, the Mayor also pointed out the need to empower the next generation of people who wish to be involved in local administration procedures.

E-Trikala will work very close with the Municipality providing technical assistance in order to have a joined and optimal result. More meetings will take place in the near future.

Introducing the concept of Youth Council to the local community

In relation to the Youth Council initiative that the Municipality of Trikala will implement via NEUEYT project a very important event took place. On the 19th of May, 2022 the first step for the establishment of the Municipal Youth Council was taken by the Municipality of Trikala. The meeting took place at the City Hall, where representatives of local institutions and associations gathered.

During the meeting the Deputy Regional Minister of Health of Thessaly Mr. Dimitra Natsina and the Deputy Mayors of Trikala Efi Leventi and Vas. Kranias, the President of the Municipal Council of Trikala George Panagiotou and the Vice President of the Tsitsanis Museum and Head of the Volunteers of Trikala, Michalis Lappas, presented the aims and objectives of the Youth Council.

This first meeting was supported by representatives of local educational and cultural associations (Pyrgetou, Agia Kyriaki, Sotiras, Fotada, Apantachou Lagkadioton, Sarakatsanaion, Kipaki, Agia Moni, Agia Triada, Varousiou, Efxinou Club, Eloki Chotei, ELOK, Polio (“Asteras”, “Aeolos”, AS Asklipios, AS TRIKKI, SOAT, AST, Delphi), who had the opportunity to express their opinion and analyse the way that could support this endeavour.

Finally, E-Trikala had the chance to present NEUEYT project and more particularly the Six steps to democratic participation and the Youth Council initiatives to both the authorities and institutions. E-Trikala will work very close with the Municipality providing technical assistance in order to have a joined and optimal result. More meetings will take place in the near future.

Celebrating Europe day in Trikala and promoting NEUEYT Project

During the official day of Europe, which is on 9 of May, the NEUEYT project team from E-Trikala in Greece had the opportunity to inform the general public, both about the project and the initiatives that are being implemented during this period. 

About the event

The briefing took place on May 9, at the Music School of Trikala, which implements the School-Embassy program of the European Parliament (EPAS) which aims to enrich the knowledge of young people, coming from different educational, social and geographical environments, around European parliamentary, the values ​​of political democracy in Europe, and the role and functioning of the European Parliament, which represents European citizens.

In the framework of this day, E-TRIKALA had the opportunity to present the NEUEYT project and to inform both the political representatives and the student community about the 3 NEUEYT initiatives implemented in the city of Trikala.
