ARPG endgame can feel like you're clocking in after work: same maps, same clicks, same "maybe this run" hope. PoE2's killstreak mechanic changes the vibe because it pushes you to stay hot instead of playing careful, and that pressure is kind of addicting. When you're riding the timer, even a run that would've been "fine" suddenly turns into a sprint for bigger payoffs, and I've caught myself planning routes and drops the way people plan league starters. Keep Moving, Stop Hoovering

The easiest way to kill your own streak is looting like it's a vacuum simulator. People do it without thinking. Click a shard, check the ground, shuffle back a step, then the timer's gone and so is the momentum. I've had way more success with a simple rule: kill first, loot later. You clear a pocket, glance for the one or two things that actually matter, then you're already on the next screen. If you've got downtime, save it for after the boss or when the map naturally funnels you into a safe pause. The streak buffs feel way stronger when you treat them like a chain you refuse to drop.

Build For Flow, Not For Spreadsheet Damage

A lot of "good" builds on paper feel awful here because they're slow between fights. Big wind-up slams, long locks, anything that makes you stand still too often, it all bleeds seconds. Mobility ends up being damage. AoE ends up being defense. Skills that fire while you're repositioning, instant casts, bow setups that keep you moving, those shine because you're always reaching the next pack before the timer gets scary. You don't need perfect single-target if you arrive at the rare mob with stacked buffs and a screen already half-dead. That's when the system clicks and you start deleting stuff you used to respect.

Pick Maps That Don't Betray You

Layout matters more than people admit. If you're backtracking, you're basically betting your streak on empty hallways. I look for routes that naturally feed you monsters: open areas, long lanes, loops where you can keep turning forward. Dead ends are brutal, and "just one side room" is usually a lie. Learn where density tends to sit, cut the fluff, and don't be afraid to skip a corner if it'll cost your chain. Once you get that end-of-streak payoff and the bonus XP actually shows up on the bar, it's hard to go back to slow, careful clearing.

Gear And Upgrades Without Breaking Tempo

There's still a real gear curve, and you're gonna feel it when your clearspeed falls behind the timer. That's why I like sorting upgrades outside the run and keeping my in-map decisions dumb and fast.
