Secret of the Spring punishes that instinct in a harmless way. The quest is short, but it asks you to use a system many players ignore after setting up their Diablo IV Items: the emote wheel. The Riddle Is Pointing at an Emote

Start by finding the Discarded Note in the Kylsik Plateau area of Fractured Peaks, in the northern wilderness above Kyovashad. After you interact with it, track Secret of the Spring and follow the marker to the warm spring. The note's clue refers to patience, but standing beside the water won't trigger anything. You need to open the emote wheel and use Wait while your character is inside the marked objective area.

Wait may not be visible on your current wheel. Open the wheel customization menu, find Wait in the available emotes, assign it to an open slot, and confirm the change before returning to the spring. Use the emote close to the water, and a hidden chest should appear. Open it to complete the quest. If the wheel change wasn't saved, Wait may not have been equipped at all. Moving away and returning can refresh the trigger; teleporting elsewhere and coming back is a reasonable last step if the chest fails to load.
